Everything I love,
I hold until it breaks.
I sink my nails inβ
skin, memory, soulβ
leave furrows so deep
you could plant a whole field of grief in them.
I hold your face between my hands
until my thumbs bruise the bones.
I kiss you until my lips tear,
until you taste salt and copper
and know Iβd starve
before I let you go.
You run,
and I chase through the dark,
barefoot,
skin splitting on roots,
catching on barbed wire.
I come back dripping,
clutching fistfuls of my own blood
like itβs an offering.
I was not built for release.
I am made of hooks,
of teeth,
of rough, jagged things.
I am made of the same old hunger
that keeps the vultures alive.
Even if you leave me empty,
Iβll dig my fingers into the hollowness
and fill it with the sound of your name,
until the house collapses
around the altar Iβve made for us.
If the world tears you from me, I will retrieve you.
Iβll dig you out of its gut,
and cradle whatβs left.
My love, my angel,
See how the moon still shines for us?
See how even wrath bends to keep us close?
You will always leave with my claws in you,
always scarred with the proof
that I loved you,
hard enough to break us both.

Hello! I found your blog while randomly searching for other creative writers active on WordPress. It looks like you have been posting for a few months; if you intend to write as a short-term project, I encourage you to continue to write for as long as you can even if your original motivation changes over time. I’ve had blogs on WordPress since 2009 and my latest one I’ve had since 2018. I post regularly for my current blog, but for some years failed to post anything–which I regret. I think there is something powerful from consistently creating over many years and revisiting those creations… Please keep exploring with words. I hope I can read more of your work through the upcoming months and eventually years.

thank you so much! Writing is a finnicky thing, but I intend to post my work for the foreseeable future – I read some of your work as well and wish the same for you! I agree, I think having an archive of writing to look back on, to see not only how your emotions have evolved, but also writing style and prose has evolved is very special. Thank you again :’)
